GovTool

Official Voltaire governance portal — register as DRep, vote on proposals

TopGovernanceMobile

What is GovTool?

GovTool is the official Cardano governance portal for the Voltaire era. Built by Intersect MBO and IOG, it is the primary interface for ADA holders to participate in on-chain governance — registering as DReps, delegating voting power, and voting directly on treasury proposals and protocol changes.

Key Features

DRep Registration

Any ADA holder can register as a Delegated Representative (DRep) on GovTool. DReps vote on governance actions on behalf of ADA holders who delegate to them.

Vote Delegation

ADA holders who don't want to vote directly can delegate their voting power to a DRep of their choice — ensuring their stake participates in governance without requiring active involvement.

Governance Action Voting

View all active governance actions — treasury withdrawals, protocol parameter changes, hard fork initiations — and cast your vote directly on-chain.

Official Intersect Portal

GovTool is maintained by Intersect, the member-based organization governing Cardano's open-source development, ensuring it stays aligned with the Cardano community's needs.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a DRep?

A Delegated Representative (DRep) is an ADA holder who registers to vote on governance actions on behalf of the community. ADA holders can delegate their voting power to any DRep, or register as one themselves.

Do I need to be a DRep to participate in governance?

No. You can delegate your voting power to an existing DRep without registering yourself. This lets your stake influence governance without requiring active voting.

What governance actions can I vote on?

You can vote on treasury withdrawals, protocol parameter changes, hard fork initiations, constitutional amendments, and no-confidence motions — all major Cardano governance decisions.

Is there a cost to register as a DRep?

Yes. Registering as a DRep requires a small ADA deposit (currently 500 ADA) to prevent spam. This deposit is returned when you deregister.
